Originally hailing from Philadelphia, PA, Joseph Cummings joined the United States Navy at 18 years old and recently retired from active duty after 20 years in service as a Helicopter Crew Chief, Door Gunner, and Rescue Swimmer. Throughout his military career, he spent countless years deployed both onboard ships and land-based, accumulating over 4,000 flight hours onboard Sikorsky’s very versatile MH-60S “Knighthawk.” His most significant accomplishments include assisting those in need during multiple humanitarian assistance disaster relief operations, promoting to the coveted rank of Chief Petty Officer, and never crashing in “one of them whirlybirds,” as his grandmother used to say.
Joe has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University. He is a Certified Financial Education Instructor and achieved his Master Training Specialists Certification while on active duty.
Joe’s initial foray into the financial realm was as a client of Opus Wealth Strategies, first meeting Danijel in 2015. His experience as a client left a lasting impression as he eagerly learned about wealth management and how to grow his family’s financial portfolio. Joe’s commitment to lifelong learning currently has him on a path to receiving his securities license.
As a Partner, Joe is personally and passionately committed to educating his clients, equipping and empowering them with the tools, resources, and information that will fuel their financial choices and decisions for themselves and their families. His role as an educator, mentor, and coach throughout his military career naturally extends to how he serves his clients today, thoughtfully anticipating their questions and needs as they consider their future goals.
Joe is happily married to his wife, Tara, with one very energetic son, JR, and a second who will soon make his approach into this world. In his spare time, he can be found tinkering in the garage, hunting, or flying.
